Rock City Q&A: Jeneva Gregory, Mills University Studies High School Point Guard

The Little Rock City News caught up with Junior Point Guard Jeneva Gregory to ask her about the basketball season and her game. Here’s what she had to say in the Meet the Comets Q&A:
Q: How long have you been playing basketball, and what inspired you to start?
A: I’ve been playing basketball since I was 4 years old and my dad inspired me to start playing.
Q:What do you enjoy most about playing basketball?
A: I enjoy the teamwork and just the peacefulness I have when I am playing.
Q: What’s one area of your game you’re currently working to improve?
A: I’m working on being more aggressive on the offensive side.
Q: What has been the most memorable game or shot you’ve made in a game?
A: The most memorable game was when me, my dad (coach), and my older sister helped win our school’s first game in over 13 years at Mills and we got to do it together.
Q: What’s the toughest team or player you’ve faced?
A: The toughest team we have faced is Nashville High school in Arkansas.

Q: Can you describe your role on the team and how it’s evolved over time?
A: My role on the team has evolved over time, i have made more responsibilities to make sure my team is in place and that we have championship mindset.
Q: How do you prepare mentally and physically for a game?
A: I prepare mentally for the game by reminding myself that I can go out there and have a good game. Physically, I prepare by having a good warm up.
Q: What are your goals for this season?
A: My goal is to make it to State or even win it all.
Q: If you could improve one aspect of your game instantly, what would it be?
A: My ability to shoot. better.
Q: What has basketball taught you about teamwork and resilience?
A: Basketball has taught me to not be selfish and always knowing that you always have someone you can rely on to help you.
Q: If you could give advice to younger players, what would it be?
A: Get in the gym and workout outside of practice.
Q: If your coach joined a game, what position would they play, and how would they do?
A: If my coach joined a game he would play point guard and he would do good leading his team.
Q: If you could dunk on anyone or team, who would it be, and why?
A: I would dunk on my 6’4 teammate because she is tall and it would make me look good.
Q: Have you ever accidentally scored in the wrong basket, Or what’s your most embarrassing moment on the court? (Be honest!)
A: I have scored on the wrong goal, but I also have thought that it was the 4th quarter and we were up by 10, so I held the ball as long as I could not knowing we still had another quarter and we lost.
Q: Who would win in a 3-point shootout Kaitlin Clark or Steph Curry?
A: Catlin Clark
Q: Where is the funnest place you gone for a pick up basketball game?
A: Outside a church.
Q: How do you think playing for your school has shaped you as a person?
A: I think it has shaped me because when I went over there we didn’t have a good team so me coming over there laying a foundation made others want to come and join.
Q: What is your favorite game day hype song?
A: Any song by Drake
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Habachi and tacos.
